The St Andrews Lutheran College philosophy emphasises the development of the whole person which includes physical, social and emotional development. Participation in a comprehensive sport program plays a major part in this development.
At St Andrews we cater for the entire student community to participate in sport, while still providing the pathways and opportunities for talented sports participants to play at State and National levels in vast range of sports.

We provide numerous opportunities for leadership in the sporting area. As well as having Junior, Middle and Senior School House Captains, students are able to assist convening and conducting school carnivals, and we run an Active School Leaders program for year 6 students.
All St Andrews’ students in years 4-12 are expected to participate in Inter-House Carnivals and students in years 5-12 are expected to participate in Inter-School Sport. (years 5-7 in Gold Coast South District and years 8-12 in Association of Gold Coast Colleges) Prep to year 3 students have the ‘Mini Olympics’ Carnival and a comprehensive Swimming Program.
Teams are selected to represent St Andrews at District (Gold Coast South Primary and Independent District Secondary Schools) and Inter-Lutheran (years 4-7 at Southern Lutheran Associated Primary Schools and years 8-12 at Queensland Lutheran Colleges) sporting competitions in swimming, cross-country and athletics. Students are then able to be selected to participate at Regional, State and National levels.
Students can apply to attend Sports Trials for selection in District (Gold Coast South Primary and Hinterland Secondary) Sports Teams. It is the student's responsibility to come and register their interest and receive additional information regarding the Sports Trials.
St Andrews fields teams in Regional and State Competitions in Touch, Futsal and Netball.
We actively utilise expert coaches and participate in programs run by local, Regional and State Sporting organizations such as Auskick, AFL Queensland, Gold Coast Titans, ARL Development, Total Football Academy, Vikings Futsal, In2Cricket, Queensland Cricket, Basketball Queensland, Gold Coast Blaze, Queensland Baseball, Burleigh Heads and Queensland Tennis.
Vikings Futsal presently conducts competitions in our new Multi Purpose Hall three evenings a week.
We have qualified track and field coaches conduct ‘Running Club’ two mornings per week in terms 1,2 and 3.
Each year we have sporting competitions with visiting schools. In 2010 we had visits and games against students from John Paul 11 College in New Zealand, St Stephens International School in Thailand and the Kokoda Boys Rugby Team from Papua New Guinea.
Sporting information and opportunities are displayed on notice boards around the College, mentioned in daily student notices, College bulletins, newsletters and STAR magazines and via announcements at assemblies.
